CAN YOU GUESS MY ACCENT?

August 15, 2008

Language Trainers Group, a language training course, has a video trivia game online where people from around the world read a brief piece of literature and then ask you to guess their accent. It’s fun, though I personally did not do so well. Shockingly, I was unable to detect one woman’s thick Lithuanian accent as she read an excerpt by Rudyard Kipling.

AIRPORT PARKING MADE EASY

August 15, 2008

Since the beginning of time, man has always approached airport parking by just simply winging it. (pun absolutely intended). For some, it ends in shelling out a few extra bucks, but for others it culminates into complete panic and anxiety.

It’s hard to imagine getting excited about anything involving Airport Parking Lots, but this site is actually very useful. Consider it the Yelp of airport parking. Simply type in the airport and the dates you will be flying, and it will give you not only the info on all surrounding parking lots (including addresses and prices) it also has user comments about past parking experiences. Some lots even allow you to reserve a spot. Check it out at AboutAirportParking.com.

VIRAL TIMELINE

August 13, 2008

An interactive time line of every viral Internet sensation ever from “Dancing Baby” to “Matrix Ping Pong”. Starting as early as 1941, it gives some major milestones in the creation of computers and the world wide web. However, to no surprise, the bulk of the timeline is from the last 10 years. The site is fairly new, so there’s still a lot of stuff to be mentioned which you can add yourself.

TABLE-X-CHANGE

August 5, 2008
http://la.tablexchange.com/

New website acts as an online market where you can buy and sell table reservations for some of the hardest restaurants to get into in your city. After you buy the reservation (most are about $10), you will get an e-mail of the name it’s under. Perfect for under-appreciated Hollywood assistants as well as their bachelor bosses desperate for a well-paid-for lay.

The site is currently only set up for LA, NY, Chicago, and the Hamptons, but they’ll soon be opening up in other cities across the country so that everyone will be able to get a good table at their local Outback.
